Looking Good for the Holidays

Author: Ariyana

Everyone likes to look great. We are only human and most of us are at least a little bit vane. But it is especially hard to look good when there is so much good food happening around the holiday season. It seems that from Thanksgiving up until New Years Eve most families homes are full of great smells and the tastes of some fabulous foods that simply make your mouth water and then your waist expand. So what is a person to do in a situation like this? There are countless parties to attend and you certainly don’t want to offend your hosts by not eating.

For those of you that may be taking a break from filing out your US immigration forms this can be a difficult thing. While you find your hands reaching for the tasty morsels as you work on getting your US Visas in a mindless manner. It seems like our fingers simply reach for the plates of cookies while we are thinking about the Green Card renewals and we do it without even thinking. It’s like or brains go on auto pilot for food.

One sure fire way to avoid this would be to simply stay in and be a hermit during November and December. Since this is hardly practical let’s consider an alternative that might work for you.

While saying you are on a diet to the hostess will work sometimes, a more effective way to cut down on the consumption factor is to say you may be allergic to some of the ingredients. Most people understand that one. We all know that filling in the US Immigration forms can make you extremely hungry. And sweets are abundant on holidays so working towards getting your US Visa or making sure that you get your Green Card Renewal done in a timely manner. So you might have to be extra cautious and creative to avoid the calorie overload.

Keep in mind that when it comes to eating and over eating. You are in control. So be mindful of not only what you are eating but the quantities of the things you are eating. Moderation can be your friend. In other words, a small piece of cheesecake is likely going to be okay, half of the thing is not likely to be good, no matter how great it tastes.
Will power may not be fun but it can go a long way towards making you look good over the festive season.

So when you are out party going this season and taking a break from filling in those Immigration Forms and getting your US Visa. Remember that the more you eat now the longer it’s going to take you to recover and the harder it is going to be to concentrate when you get back to the paperwork. That goes for your Green Card Renewal as well. The end result is in your mind and as long as you keep the food out of your hands, you’ll come out looking sweet.

Losing the Holiday Weight

Author: Ariyana

When you are trying to lose the weight you gained throughout the holidays there is only one way to do it. You must focus on the natural approaches to losing weight which includes your intake, exercise, and drinking a lot of water.

Holiday weight always seems so easy to gain but so hard to get off. You may not pay attention to how many pounds you are packing on as you decorate the artificial Christmas tree. Gaining the weight happens fast and the natural methods are the healthiest and the best. When you take weight loss pills they only make the weight loss more difficult for your body, especially if you rely on them to lose weight.

The foods you eat are the most important. Christmas is a time when it is easy to eat so much because of the decorations on the artificial Christmas trees, the people, the spirit, and of course the abundance of food. Losing the weight means you need to eat only healthy foods. Don’t snack on the leftovers from Christmas. Toss out the leftovers and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. You should eat a lot of greens, fruits, and fish. These are the healthy foods you should be eating. Don’t spend time snacking and if you get bored then you need to find other things to eat that are healthy. Snack on things like carrot sticks and grapes.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you eat or snack you need to watch your intake. Many people think that they can eat a huge meal and drink a diet soda and they are on a diet. A diet soda doesn’t mean you are watching what you eat. Many people are hungrier when they drink diet drinks. Pay attention to portions. Because something says it is fat free or sugar free doesn’t mean that you can eat as many as you want to. Cut down on large helpings of food and going back for seconds. Eat smaller portions and chew your food slower. Think about how good the food tastes and take your time to enjoy it. It may surprise you how much weight you can lose when you cut down on the amount of food you are eating.

Another natural way to lose the holiday weight is by exercising. You need to get plenty of exercise. just taking the decorations off of the prelit Christmas trees is considered exercise. Cleaning the house for 15 minutes a day is exercise. You should try to go for a walk everyday. If it is too cold to walk outside in the winter months then you can walk the halls at your work, jog on a mini trampoline, and just clean your house.

There are many ways to lose the holiday added pounds and quickly restore your body to a healthy weight. You can lose excess weight if you really want to but it requires you to be committed to the process. Cut down on the foods, don’t take pills, eat healthy, exercise, and drink plenty of water.

Maintaining a Healthy Weight During the Holidays

Author: Ariyana

Most people gain the majority of their weight throughout the entire year during the time period of the holidays. There are many things you can do to make sure you don’t gain a lot of weight throughout the holidays. These things include paying attention to the snacking at work and the parties.

Snacking is the worst thing you can do if you are watching your weight. Snacking occurs more throughout the holidays because people are partying around the Christmas trees with candy and other foods. Besides decorating the artificial Christmas trees people eat non-stop. More candy sales take place during the Christmas holidays and Valentine’s Day than any other day of the year. The problem with Christmas is that people begin preparing to celebrate this holiday up to two months prior to the actual date.

Many people gain weight during the holidays because of all of the excess food brought to work during this time. Your employer may have buffet luncheons, bring sweets, and more things. The best way to watch your weight while you are working is to bring your own healthy snacks like carrot and celery sticks. If people have a ton of chocolates and candy throughout the office you may want to avoid walking around. You can avoid the people who have all of the food at their desks also. During your lunch hour, try to go for a brisk 15 minute walk rather than spend so much time mingling. Also, people will be supportive if you let it be known you are watching your weight.

If you are planning a Christmas party this year like you do every year this can be difficult. Just that one night of splurging can leave you leftovers of junk that will contribute to weight gain. Consider having healthy snacks for your guests that come to your party. If you don’t want leftovers then be sure to send people home with containers of food to take with themselves. This includes the pies, cookies, chocolates, etc.

Another thing to consider if you want to avoid gaining weight during the holidays is not to snack at all. You may want your focus to be somewhere other than the kitchen. Take extra long while you decorate the artificial Christmas tree and avoid the kitchen. Don’t participate in the pie and fudge making activities. Choose other activities like hanging out by the Christmas trees and not the food.

The holidays is the most difficult time of year to lose weight. The average amount of weight people gain during the Christmas season is around 30 pounds. No one wants to gain this and it usually takes the rest of the year to get it off. The best things you can do to avoid gaining weight during the holidays is avoid the snacking altogether, watch the foods you are snacking on, and finding other activities to do rather than snacking. Avoid the desks that have all of the candy and foods on them and try to keep up your exercise routine.
